Synopsis:
The Culhanes live in a huge, crumbling Victorian house overlooking Dublin Bay. Jack abandons his safe job and attempts to write a great irish novel. His wife is left to hold things together while outwardly pretending that Jack is merely on sick leave.
Their neighbours, the Sheehans, live an eccentric existence as their house falls down around them, moving from room to room as each one becomes uninhabitable.
Dublin Bay exercises an almost magical influence on them drawing them again and again to its shores. History is relived daily and much of what is accepted as fact is actually memory and legend. An original novel that captures the mood of Ireland at the dawn of the 1960's.
